To explain how AFCON qualifier’s Le6-plus billion was spent;

Sports Ministry, NSA, SLFA under ACC Microscope

Sierra Leone’s Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has commenced investigations into how funds disbursed for the Sierra Leone versus Benin match was spent.

This was according to ACC’s Deputy Director of Public Education and Outreach, Abubakarr Turay who confirmed that the Commission has sent notices to the Ministry of Sports, National Sports Authority (NSA), Accountant Generals Department in the Ministry of Finance and the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA), to give detailed explanations with authentic supporting documents on how funds disbursed by the government were spent.

It can be recalled that President Julius Maada Bio through the Ministry of Finance, approved over Six Billion Leones for the AFCON qualifying match between Sierra Leone and Benin played on 15th June, 2021.
