The agreement was signed between the company and the Government in 2009 during the tenure of the former Minister of Lands and Country Planning Capt. Benjamin Davis.
The Chinese company, according to investigation, is now sub leasing the property to other Chinese firms without any agreement with the government of Sierra Leone.
The General Manager said Tourist Board is going to review all the lease agreements with the Chinese companies for the utilisation of the Aberdeen Lumley beach front.
“We have already developed a beautification and development plan for the beach to meet international standards.”
However, the Henan Guoji Property Development Company has also not been fulfilling its corporate social responsibility (CSR) to the communities they operate.
At the headquarters of the Henan Guoji Property Development Company at Cline Town they have converted the National Workshop for the sale of different merchandise to the public that are imported into the country from China.
Some of the Chinese companies are using the Henan Guoji Property Development Company to undertake other businesses without paying taxes to the Government of Sierra Leone.
Currently, several companies are operating at the Cline Town national workshop without license; they pretend to be manufacturing their products locally but most of them are imported into the country and assembled at the workshop to deceive unsuspecting customers.
Henan Guoji Property Development Company has for the past seven years constructed an ultra-modern furnished apartments and class shops for sale and rent at Aberdeen in Freetown overlooking the Atlantic Ocean.
In mid-2014, fifteen of the shops were gutted down by fire, causing economic loss to many Sierra Leonean and foreign customers who rented the shops but the Guoji property Development Company failed to locally and internationally insure any of the properties.
The Ministry of Lands Housing and Country Planning is also planning to review the 99 years lease agreement with the Chinese company.
