All accused persons standing trials on Treason Counts in Sierra Leone, Amadu Koita Makalo, Mohamed Jalloh, Sgt. Mohamed Sallue Kamara, Ramatu Kanda Conteh, Alimatu Hassan Bangura, Hassan Leigh, Mohamed Wurrie, ASP Ibrahim Sesay, Tamba Yamba, Kabba Kamara and Abdul Sorie Hassan Kamara, have been found Guilty.
The first accused, Koita has been sentenced to a total of 346 years in prison. He received specific sentences: 52 years on Count 1, 52 years on Count 3, 70 years on various counts and 60 years each on Counts 17, 18, and 19.
The accused persons are pronounced Guilty on Counts 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19 and 20. No verdict yet on Counts 13 and 14 as they concern another accused person, Bai Mamoud Bangura, who is currently on bail.
The Accused persons were charged on Treason and other offenses for their alleged roles in what authorities have called an attempted coup on November 26, 2023.
