Giving a brief overview of the Street Sports Hope, Mr. Alie Sesay explained that they are helping street children and young people in Sierra Leone, particularly those struggling financially following the Ebola outbreak. The vision of the organization he said, is that every child should have a childhood with all the rights that every child deserves. ‘The ultimate goal of the organization is that every child has the right to: play; food; education; medical care and child protection’, he said. ‘Presently we are operating in two districts in the country including Western Rural and Kono districts’, he added.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Dr. Alie Kabba whilst welcoming the officers of the Street Sports Hope organization, expressed delight over the initiative taken by fellow compatriots and team abroad to solicit support to assist disadvantaged members of the society back home as a result of the Ebola scourge in the country.

Dr. Kabba noted that it is enshrined in the New Direction Agenda that every person should reap the benefits of prosperity and enjoy minimum standards of well-being. This he said, is aimed at freeing all people and all segments of society from poverty and hunger and to ensure, among other things, healthy lives and access to education, modern energy and information. It is against this background; Dr. Kabba stated that his Ministry will serve as a focal point or window to the international community to attract support and investments in the country that will enhance the common good.

‘I will work with other MDAs to ensure that our commitments to this nation are achieved by providing the enabling environment for organizations such as Street Sports Hope, to bring hope to the children in Sierra Leone’, he concluded.

A member of the Board of Trustee & Treasurer, Mr. Mark Dodd; the country Chairman for the Board of Trustees, Mohamed J. Musa; and the UK Representative, David Alphan Kawa formed part of the delegation.
