Sierra Leone’s Football Association has refuted social media claim that the FA is in advanced talks with Antonio Rudiger, a Sierra Leonean international footballer, over a nationality switch.
The claim, which has been circulated on social media for days now, has been described by the Football Association as false.
Rudiger is Sierra Leone’s Brand Global Football Ambassador. He has been in the local and international media lately for displaying Sierra Leone’s Green White and Blue National Flag after Real Madrid won 2024 UEFA Champions League trophy by defeating Borussia Dortmund 2 – 0 in the final.
The Standout in Real Madrid’s passage to the Champions League semi-finals is undoubtedly Antonio Rudiger, he scored the decisive penalty that brought down the reigning champions, but he did much more than that. The Sierra Leonean native defender excelled in what he does best defending. He was very instrumental in helping Real Madrid win the 2024 Champions League.
In 2022, Antonio Rüdiger was pronounced ‘Brand Global Sierra Leone Football Ambassador’ by His Excellency the President of Sierra Leone and was handed the country’s diplomatic passport.
Rüdiger said in a recent interview with Real Madrid that his dream is “to create a lot of jobs” in his mother’s home country of Sierra Leone.
He already started a foundation to help underprivileged people in the country, and he previously donated over $100,000 to support free quality education and gave all of his 2022 World Cup earnings to fund life-changing surgeries for children in need there.
