The reality in the country amid the boast from government officials of their commitment to empower women, which according to them is being demonstrated in the recent cabinet reshuffle is, there is no woman heading any of the three organs of government (Executive, Judiciary and Legislative), no woman heads the country’s security agencies, out of a cabinet of 25, only 4 are women and out of 124 Members of Parliament, only 15 are women. The list is endless but the government is taking credence for women’s empowerment. Even the number of women in politics especially, those at the fore are handful.
