According to the charge sheet, the alleged murderer, Kadiatu Mansaray murdered her husband, Alpha Kamara on 15 July 2018 at Pipe Line, Mayiba- Mount Aureole located on the hills overlooking Freetown.
The accused person had earlier denied the charge preferred against her in the lower court, but she was later committed to stand trial in the High Court of Sierra Leone, after sufficient evidence was adduced against her during preliminary investigation.
 When the charge was put to Kadiatu Mansaray on Monday 20 May this year, at the Call -Over Session of the 2019 Criminal Session, she pleaded not guilty.
However, the presiding Judge, Hon. Justice Alusine Sesay took a critical observation and several considerations of the accused condition and the offence charged, before granting bail to her.
Before the matter was adjourned for further hearings, the alleged murderer told the well-attended court that her baby girl is now four months three weeks old.
He informed the court that the accused person’s case and condition is exceptional, considering the fact that she gave birth in state custody and she is now a suckling mother.
Hon. Justice Alusine Sesay concluded that the essence of bail is to ensure the continuous appearance of the accused person or persons, but it should not be considered as a form of punishment.
The state was represented by Oladipo Vivial Robin Mason Jr. and battery of legal luminaries from the Law Officers’ Department, whiles the accused Person, Kadiatu Mansaray was defended by Barrister Cecilia Tucker from the Legal Aid Board.
The matter comes up again on Tuesday 28th May 2019.
