Executive members of the Women’s Forum Sierra Leone have paid a courtesy call on the First Lady of Sierra Leone, Her Excellency Dr. Fatima Maada Bio at her office in Goderich, Freetown and congratulated her on her global successes.
The President of the Women’s Forum Sierra Leone, Sally N. Adams appreciated the relentless efforts of the First Lady in ensuring that the Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment (GEWE) Act, was passed into law which has made more women to occupy prominent government positions.
She as well highly commended the very visible role played by the First Lady as a Woman at the forefront of her husband’s recent presidential election campaign that resulted in his victorious re-election as President of Sierra Leone.
“We want to officially congratulate you on behalf of the women of Sierra Leone for the tremendous efforts you and your children have made in ensuring your husband the President, His Excellency Dr. Julius Maada Bio, gets re-elected as President of the Republic of Sierra Leone,” Sally Adams stated adding that they wanted to once again congratulate President Bio through the First Lady.
The women’s president also used the visit to point out challenges affecting the Women’s Forum and pleaded for Her Excellency’s supportive hands to be put on the Forum.
Dr. Fatima Maada Bio expressed thanks and appreciation to the ladies for their visit. She made recommendations that she opined would increase the growth and development of Women’s Forum.
She promised to work with them in ensuring the empowerment of every woman and every girl in Sierra Leone. She further assured them that they will enjoy an open-door policy with her Office and that she is offering her service to them.
